Armor and Shields Options and Tables

The following tables describe the options Gamma World characters have for protective gear. The options are generalized and players are highly encouraged to come up with what sort of scavenged, cobbled-together defensive garb their mutants trundle around Gamma Terra in.

Armor Options

No armor no armor bonus Add Dex or Int modifier to AC
Light armor +3 armor bonus to AC Add Dex or Int modifier to AC
Medium armor +5 armor bonus to AC Speed reduced by 1
Heavy armor +7 armor bonus to AC Speed reduced by 1
Suffer -1 penalty to Acrobatics, Athletics, and Stealth checks

Shield Options

Shield Category Bonus Notes
No shield no shield bonus May use two-handed weapons
Light shield +1 shield bonus to AC May not use two-handed weapons
Heavy shield +2 shield bonus to AC May not use two-handed weapons
+1 shield bonus to Reflex Suffer -1 penalty to Acrobatics, Athletics, and Stealth checks

Custom Armor Options

Characters may choose to have any of the following qualities to the armor that they wear. Players should come up with an appropriate material or design to the modified armor to reflect the customization. In general, armor may only have one custom quality, but the GM may make case-by-case exceptions for particularly interesting armor concepts.

Powered Gain a +1 bonus to damage with melee attacks Gain vulnerable 5 electricity
Reflective Gain resist 5 laser Suffer a -1 penalty to AC
Rubber Gain resist 5 electricity Suffer a -1 penalty to AC
Thermal Gain resist 5 cold Gain vulnerable 5 fire
